It's the Fuel & Environmental Surcharge of £7,50 that you conveniently cropped out:

[–] 1stQ@feddit.org 9 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

That's how it looked like on my screen.

[–] ChairmanMeow@programming.dev 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Rendering issue then? Yours doesn't show the rounded corners in the bottom so there's definitely supposed to be more there.

[–] 1stQ@feddit.org 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

That part is scrollable. I didn't see any corners because gray on gray, (I don't have the best eyes anymore). Just tried to swipe that part of the screen on a hunch (my SO wouldn't have thought of that) and saw it hidden down under the total.

[–] x00z@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Sadly the UK didn't take over much of the consumer laws during its EU membership because it being hidden like that is not allowed.

In OPs defence, it’s kind of typical to have subtotals for only all numbers above. Mildly infuriating to see a subtotal and then have them be like oh yeh here’s what’s also included there after the fact.

[–] ChairmanMeow@programming.dev 1 points 10 hours ago

Surcharges are often listed last. But it's still a bit disingenuous to claim that the "math ain't mathing" if the missing charges are right there.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

but that's not part of the subtotal

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

It is part of the subtotal, but for some reason, the screen is showing the subtotal first.

[–] axexrx@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Then its a supertotal.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 76 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Soooooooo.......you just gonna leave out all context? Cool cool cool cool.

[–] bravesilvernest@lemmy.ml 60 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Would you say its mildly infuriating? 😉

[–] osaerisxero@kbin.melroy.org 20 points 1 day ago

Fukkin gottem

[–] tyler@programming.dev 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What context do you need? The numbers don’t add up.

[–] isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 7 points 16 hours ago

I need to know what's up with the motorcycle.

Like, is it a parking fee?

Is it a stadium and the motorcycle gets a seat?

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 29 points 1 day ago

That's those pesky hidden fees most places brag they don't have.

[–] atrielienz@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)
[–] 1stQ@feddit.org 19 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yes. P&O from N. Ireland to Scotland. It doesn't look like it but the fees can be revealed by scrolling below the total. Doesn't look like it's a scrollable part of the website.

[–] atrielienz@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago

I just wanted to make sure I understood the context. At first glance I had no idea what was going on. A ferry was the only thing I could think of that made sense.

[–] Codpiece@feddit.uk 9 points 23 hours ago

You could say it’s ferry ‘nuff.

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com -3 points 1 day ago

What the fuck did you just call me?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago
[–] Bitflip@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 day ago

Still seems like a good deal, even if you don't get to pick the gender.

[–] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Damn Europe got $20 motorcycles? Maybe they are better than us.

Well no, it's British, not European

[–] 01189998819991197253@infosec.pub 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Isn't vat like 15%? £49 + approx. 15% = £56.50.

[–] sanguinepar@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

No, VAT is 20% (except maybe on a few very specific products)

[–] 01189998819991197253@infosec.pub 3 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Apparently, and assuming this is transport, vat would be 0%. Besides fees not shown in the screenshot, I don't know why this doesn't math.

Passenger transport in a vehicle, boat or aircraft that carries not less than 10 passengers 0% VAT Notice 744A

[–] sanguinepar@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

Ah ok, didn't know that. And yeah, the numbers just don't make sense at all! 😁

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 3 points 23 hours ago

1x Motorcycle and 16+ adults?
