I'll be cancelling Paramount+ immediately after watching Stephen Colbert's final episode. Honestly I rarely use it anyway so I might as well make a statement while I'm at it.

I haven't watched Colbert since he was on Comedy Central. Was his late night show any good? I imagine the politics wasnt as prominent as his CC show.

Any good? Yes. Within the "Late Night" shows it was consistently one of the most watched. The show itself is also just excellent.

In terms of politics? Every episode opens with a monologue about the news and a certain political figure is constantly in the news, do it's very political, but also a reflection of what is going on.

Counterpoint: it became very formulaic in recent years and making jokes about MAGA is pretty low hanging fruit and became tedious.

I miss the days when Johnny Carson would just have interesting people on his show, not just another celebrity plugging some shitty new movie.

“Good night and good luck, motherfuckers.” is going to become a rallying cry.

[–] Juice@midwest.social 2 points 11 hours ago

Now all we need is a rally, and people to cry it

The post title would have cooperated better with markdown if people weren’t afraid of using wirty dords on the internet.

Random italics was clearly the intended effect...

Let's see how long John Oliver is on air... With the merger gone through, it's not looking great for him, either.

The bigger question is why the fuck are people still watching network TV at all.

Just because you don't enjoy it doesn't mean nobody enjoys it.
