Having been reared in Western Christianity, in late primary through secondary school years, cult evangelism, it's something I was also taught. But there was a lot in the protestent Bible translations that made no sense, and I went back to Jewish teachings (Jesus was a Jew, after all) and Christian and Jewish mysticism, that led to a different understanding of the word English speakers call "rib."
