tl/dr: It's a re-branded 2-year-old midrange Samsung with a shell most people describe as piss-colored, a Trump wallpaper and Truth Social preinstalled.
And still only available to media representatives.

Pretty much exactly what any sane person expected.

Edit: Also, the American flag on it only has 11 stripes.

Reminds me of a scam by the son(?) of Pablo Escobar a while back where they sold the ""Escobar"" Fold (which was obviously just a Samsung Galaxy Fold 1) for $200 or something ridiculously low like that.

Of course it sold out within minutes but the only ones that ever received their phones were influencers.

Edit: Actually looks like it's an HTC

Oh, shit, i remember that clusterfuck. Wasn't it also with something something blockchain/web3?

[–] FireWire400@lemmy.world 3 points 41 minutes ago

I think they tried to make their own crypto currency

So... The media bought into another Trump trap.

Color me shocked at 6.

Sooo.. billionaires that have always been complying in advance to Trump and fascism in the name of profits.

So where are HTC phones built?

The true test of a Trump Phone is whether or not you are a dumb enough to sign up to get one

The 'Suckers and Losers' plan.

Edit: I know it's his idiot offsprings 'business' but let's not pretend the pedophile doesn't have his tiny tiny grimey hands in it.

Good, now i can start harassing Trump voters about why they're still using iphones when dear leader's phone is available

So this thing isn't vaporware? How disappointing

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 7 points 1 hour ago

The Trump Phone has a waterfall display design that was popular on Android handsets three to five years ago.

The author subtly throwing shade here

i thought this was vaporware?

[–] mech@feddit.org 4 points 1 hour ago

Still can't get one if you're not working for approved media.

spiffy

Security: As we previously posted, the Trump Mobile website suffered a potential data vulnerability, which might have exposed every customer who made an online account to buy this phone. It's also unclear how long anyone can safely use the Trump phone itself: while Samsung and Google offer seven years of Android OS and security updates for their phones, Trump Mobile hasn't said how many years of software updates the T1 will be receiving, if any.

Sadly databreaches are likely to happen on virtually any site you submit your information to. Companies don't care about security because no one holds them accountable for their failures. Probably especially this site though, because its basically a list of just the biggest suckers in the world.

Companies in EU do care because of GDPR. It's no joke.

Lol as soon as he gets his money he'll lose all interest, I'd be surprised if any update are going to be tested and made available at all.

I don't think it's true Samsung updates their phones for 7 years. Maybe for the premium lines.

Thanks. Seems only the absolute premium (the S series) gets the full 7 years updates.
