Some landlord suddenly realizes he could charge another $1800/mo for the outdoor lounge area.

In college I had an apartment where you could climb out the living room window onto the rooftop of the city block I lived on. It had a great view of the downtown nightlife and no other apartments on the block had the same access. I could wander the rooftops of an entire city block. It was my own urban oasis. And it was awesome.

This coming from someone who grew up in, and is most comfortable in, the Northwoods.

Not sure who downvoted you, absolutely everyone would make use of that access/space.

Hell, I'd try my best to throw parties/get-togethers on the roof you could only get to through my apartment.

No, it clearly says it's a backyard

I mean, a negative one, lol.

Like a Sesame Street vibe.

Sorry, not my cup of tea. I need my acre of grass and view of water and mountains. But it's a good photo.

I am too, but there's something about urban sprawl that also kind of appeals to me in a weird way.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That's not urban sprawl. This is urban sprawl.

Empty parking lot of abandoned strip mall.

Few meters of space for basketball? No way, too urban.

Square miles of parking and walking across hot asphalt for big box retail that killed small downtowns? Excellent!

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I mean, yeah, that's the definition of urban sprawl. It's not supposed to be a good thing. It means it's a bad use of the land.

Sprawl refers to the act of spreading out carelessly, awkwardly, or irregularly

Yes I was agreeing with you

That's the american dream right there.

Nice pic 👍

Feels like it must be very loud when there's game though, a lot of echo!

Everyone gets their own mop bucket.

Love the pic. Just visited NYC recently and loved the city.

"Come on, Denny, Mark! Put on your tuxedos and let's throw the football, huh?"
