A decade ago I would e stoked. But with Google's home platform wasting away, their integrations dead, and their blind push on "AI" at the cost of their entire platform working, it just makes me sad.

Also I have the previous model and the updates have just made it worse over time. It tried to set my thermostat to 265f last weekend. It looses timers sometimes which is not great in the kitchen. I barely use it anymore.

Also with chip prices sky rocketing, staying at $100 has some big red flags for capabilities...

Exactly. It was so cool. Now I just look at my old Home devices in anger.

Fucking trash ad.

You will not catch me using anything Screwgle, I'm not paying for a $100 speaker with subsidized personal data... Got rid of Google back when they bought out Nest and fucked up all my devices.

Yeah, I'm not going to intentionally bug my house.

I have a stack of Google Home minis, and it's a pile of trash Im trying to get away from.

You ask it to play music, it says "ok" and then just do nothing at all.

And these days it has the nifty AI stuff in it to. So it hallucinates some answers too!

You really think I'm looking forward to a new speaker from Google?

I have an automation to play online radio on my Nest mini. I always just said "Hey google, stop." to make it silent.

After a while it just answered "There's nothing playing right now." and it continued to play the radio. I haven't found a way to stop it short of unplugging it from the wall.

Wait, shouldn't Google pay me for the mined data?

Only joking, they never do.

Ditched all my Google speakers for hacked Echo shows running lineage and the view assist app. 100% local, no corporate data mining. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Were Google's speakers? Absolutely not.

Neat, I didn't know that was possible

Me neither, but I want it.

I would test it if you give me $1000, $100 is too meager.
