if you haven't read freire's pedagogy of the oppressed you are missing out. it's totally changed how i approach critical discussions with my comrades (ie, posting). unironically worth it just for that (hexbear.net)

genius that i am, i left my bag in the train earlier today so i haven't finished it yet and won't be able to for a while. but i read the first 2.5 chapters and it was enough to blow my whole mentality

his idea that the teacher and the students are co investigators of a problem, rather than distributors and passive recipients of knowledge, respectively, is such a good description of what good faith posting on a communist internet forum should look like.

we should all conceive of ourselves as collectively working toward understanding the contradictions around us, rather than as knowing better than our comrades. i feel like all hexbears sometimes perceive of the other users here as students who know less, rather than teammates who are answering the same questions, and i include myself in that

just read the book. it's not that technical, it's compelling, and it's like 100 pages. just do it and make this place more fun and more productive
