None of the American made "muscle cars" that have been made in the last decade and a half sound like that. The engine noise is basically a speaker that makes them much noisier than they actually are. EVs could sound like a Mustang or Charger.

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Dodge tried that with the EV Charger. They sold 7000 last year, world wide. Nice try.
Some guy even got a violation for being too loud.
The ICE version sold 50,000 a year just in US.
Pay for the premium subscription, maybe.
Maybe sounds would be available in the battlepass.
It's almost like you don't own your own hardware or something.
They don't have to but are currently required by law to have the PWS.

Just like saying "THUNK" when the doors close or "vrrrrrrr- Vrrrrrrrr" or making engine starting noised when you turn it on

there is one car that has, i think dual motors, or dual batteries that sound together like an angelic choir. i honestly don’t care what my car sounds like as long as i can get 55 mpg
I'd finally have a use for all those ringtones I bought in the 2000s
I wish we could bring back custom ring tones. Some people use the same sound for calls that I use for wake-up alarms. It’s jarring when I hear it, especially since my phone likes to fuck around on its own in my pocket sometimes (even though I use a biometric lock, it still finds a way.)

Motorola put out pc software that allowed you to transfer any mp3 file you had to your phone and use it as a ringtone. AFAIK it only worked with their devices, but it felt awesome doing that and then checking how much money I didn't just spend.
I used to have the circus music (Entry Of The Gladiators) as my ringtone in my Razr.

yeah, sure. take a car that feels artificial and make it feel even more artificial. i'd rather hear the electric wheeze that provides direct feedback than simulated slop
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N lets you do that. But it's also crazy money.
Considering it's under $100k, its fucking bargain for the performance you get.

I don't think the manufacturers want to open that can of worms. You do have a choice of different sounds on some cars. I think it's good that they all sound similar, making them more recognisable.
Old hybrids didn't have those sounds and they're dead quiet at low speeds which is creepy.
