Sam Altman says "the DoW displayed a deep respect for safety."

Not 24 hours ago, he seemed to back Anthropic "supporting our warfighters" as long as two "red lines" weren't crossed, though his tepid support was laden with five instances of "I think" and one "mostly."

The two "red lines" in question:

  • Domestic mass surveillance
(presumably, foreign mass surveillance is ok)
  • Autonomous weapons
(likely because they would be held legally liable for misfires)

Why are automobile bosses treated differently from a serial killer who breaks into peoples houses, murders them with a hammer, and steals a bit of cash?

Emissions are deadly and they knew it. They killed so many people - for a little personal gain.

US threats to seize Greenland have created ‘new international fault lines’ that can be used to spread disinformation, Danish intelligence agencies say

Denmark’s intelligence services have warned that a foreign power may try to sway the general election on 24 March, saying the main threat was from Russia over support for Ukraine but also citing the chaos caused by US efforts to seize Greenland.

The PET police intelligence service and FE military intelligence said in a joint statement the election campaign could be marked by disinformation and cyberattacks “to sow division, influence the public debate or to target candidates, parties or specific political programmes”.

I've been self hosting traditionally in debian, but I would like to be able to add services easier using docker. As such, I'm looking to move to a container based architecture.

One place I struggle is that I can't seem to find a good container where the default image supports ACME to support Let's encrypt for automatic cert renewal.

For Nginx, I would have you build my container. HAproxy ACME support seems to be a shell script.

Any suggestions?

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops filed an extraordinary amicus brief on Thursday urging the Supreme Court to strike down President Donald Trump’s executive order abolishing birthright citizenship for the children of many immigrants. The conference, which represents active Catholic bishops in the United States, frequently supports conservative positions at the court: In the past, it has argued against same-sex marriage, transgender rights, LGBTQ+ nondiscrimination laws, reproductive freedom, restrictions on school prayer, and medical aid in dying. But the conference is staunchly opposed to Trump’s draconian immigration policies. And its brief in support of birthright citizenship is a searing, full-throated rebuke of the president’s executive order as an affront to the God-given equality of all people.

Skygazers will have the opportunity to see six planets on Saturday, weather permitting, according to NASA.

Mercury, Venus, Saturn and Jupiter will be visible to the naked eye, whereas Uranus and Neptune will require binoculars or a telescope. Viewers do not have to worry about wearing protective eyewear, as they would to watch a solar eclipse.

The event is visible anywhere on Earth, with the best views at twilight. Early birds should try to glimpse the planetary parade before sunrise, and for night owls, the best visibility will be right after sunset, Haviland said.

On Tuesday, a total lunar eclipse would be visible for those in Asia, Australia, the Pacific Islands and the Americas.

The moon would appear red, which was why it's referred to as a 'blood moon'. The event marked the last total lunar eclipse visible from North America until December 2028.
