>> These are the stories of young people from Gaza, born under Israeli occupation and blockade. They are people who have endured unspeakable struggles and losses, who keep fighting to be recognised not as numbers, but as human beings with hopes, dreams and lives worth living.

>> We Are Not Numbers was founded in 2014 to give voice to the youth of Gaza. In this collection, vital, urgent and full of heart, spanning over ten years to the present moment, we gain an unparalleled insight into the past, as well as the current and next generation of Palestinian leaders, artists, scientists and scholars and imagine where we might go from here.

"Veronika Cohen, 80, a #Holocaust survivor who was born in the ghetto in Budapest, said she had come to protest outside Yad Vashem on the day of remembrance because: “I don’t think we can remember our suffering without acknowledging the suffering of #Gaza, the deaths of tens of thousands of children, the starvation that’s going on this minute, for which we are partially responsible. It occupies the same place in my heart.”"

Mark Carney condemns Israeli blockade on food to Gaza [on X] | CBC News (2025-04-25)

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/mark-carney-gaza-blockade-1.7519408
———

>> "The UN World Food Programme just announced that its food stocks in Gaza have run out because of the Israeli Government's blockade — food cannot be used as a political tool," Carney said on X.

>> The UN agency said no humanitarian or commercial supplies had entered Gaza for more than seven weeks because all main border crossing points were closed, the longest closure the Gaza Strip had ever faced.

>> "Palestinian civilians must not bear the consequences of Hamas' terrorist crimes," Carney wrote in the social media post. "The World Food Programme must be allowed to resume its lifesaving work."

"Meanwhile, some officials, including the former ambassador to Italy, Dror Idar, said no representatives should attend the pope's funeral on Saturday because he "incited antisemitism".

Pope Francis, who died at the age of 88, was an outspoken supporter of the Palestinian people during Israel’s ongoing 18-month assault on the besieged Gaza Strip.

Thousands of pro-Palestinian social media users, including many from Gaza, have paid tributes to him."

"#Israel is staging a massive offensive across four major refugee camps in the north of the #WestBank. The raids, at their height, pushed 40,000 people from their homes. Many are now sheltering with relatives in neighboring villages, others racking up debt renting apartments while they wait to return.

#Israeli officials, meanwhile, have said those displaced will not be allowed to go back for at least a year."

Gaza is being starved. By Israel.

The UN World Food Programme just delivered its last food supplies to Gaza.

Gaza is out of food.

Because Israel has sealed the borders for more than 7 weeks.

"“We stand with all those in Israel-Palestine seeking to bring about a just and lasting peace. We share in their call for an end to the bombing; an end to the siege; and the safe release of the hostages.”

The rabbis' intervention appears to hint at growing frustration and impatience within British Jewish communities towards the staunchly pro-Israel stance and claims to leadership of conservative Jewish institutions such as the Board of Deputies.

Signatories of the letter include prominent figures within both Reform Judaism and Liberal Judaism."

Training for #NYPD Officers Categorized the Keffiyeh and Watermelon as Antisemitic Symbols (Jewish Currents, 2025-04-24)

https://jewishcurrents.org/training-nypd-keffiyeh-watermelon-antisemitism-israel-palestine

>> a training on combating antisemitism [led by the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) with George Washington University’s Program on Extremism (POE)] ... [alleged] to teach the police “how to recognize and address antisemitism in its many contemporary forms”... ” But the presentation itself, ... was in large part concerned with pro-Palestine activism, casting the Palestine solidarity movement as a significant threat to Jewish safety ... The training, which focused heavily on student protesters, repeatedly conflated antisemitism with anti-Zionism. It categorized campus demonstrators as extremists tied to Hamas, and branded as antisemitic Palestinian symbols like the watermelon and the keffiyeh, as well as phrases such as “settler colonialism” and “all eyes on Rafah.”

Israeli Occupation Forces rearrested freed Palestinian detainee Hanan Barghouti, known as "Um Enad," during a wide-scale raid early Wednesday in the village of Kobar, north of Ramallah, according to Roya's correspondent.

Barghouti was previously released in December 2024 after spending nine months in administrative detention without formal charges. Her re-arrest signals a return to Israel’s practice of arbitrary detention.

Barghouti is one of the most prominent women in the Palestinian detainee movement.
