What is Lemmy?

Lemmy is a selfhosted social link aggregation and discussion platform. It is completely free and open, and not controlled by any company. This means that there is no advertising, tracking, or secret algorithms. Content is organized into communities, so it is easy to subscribe to topics that you are interested in, and ignore others. Voting is used to bring the most interesting items to the top.

Think of it as an opensource alternative to reddit!

So, starting now, Google started mandating full JS for YT, effectively breaking all third-party clients and locking the site to their official client.

This reeks of DRM.

UPDATE: Installing Deno and installing yt-dlp through PyPi fixes yt-dlp but the very idea that Google is mandating JS to lock down YT in an attempt at pseudo-DRM is still crappy.

UPDATE #2: inv.nadeko.net is working again for now.

On MSNBC, Rep. Jasmine Crockett laid it all out. From Tom Homan allegedly pocketing a bag of cash in an FBI sting to the DOJ’s refusal to prosecute, Crockett explained why the “entrapment” excuse doesn’t hold water — and why the cover-up might be even worse than the crime.

Crockett reminded viewers that solicitation and conspiracy don’t require the act itself — the agreement is enough. And just like Nixon, the bigger scandal is the cover-up. She drew the line straight from bribes in Texas to Trump’s bootleg detention centers, where private contractors — all Trump’s cronies — profit from locking up people of color.

This isn’t just about one man. It’s about a culture of corruption where bribes are business as usual, justice is optional, and Trump’s allies get rich off taxpayer dollars while communities suffer. Crockett’s message was clear: always follow the money, because the money leads back to Trump.

A few weeks ago, dockworkers in Genoa threatened a total shutdown of ports if Israel interfered with the Global Sumud Flotilla, the humanitarian aid mission of dozens of boats heading to Gaza to try and break Israel’s siege and blockade. Student organizations in Spain and Italy joined the call to action, threatening to shut down their schools.

These statements were the spark that lit the most widespread and powerful action in Italy in solidarity with Palestine: a nationwide day of strikes, blockades, marches, and clashes with police — who responded with brutal repression.

Under the slogan “Blocchiamo Tutto” (“We Block Everything” for Gaza), hundreds of thousands of workers and students led actions in at least eighty cities across the country — including in Milan, Rome, Naples, and Florence.

Donald Trump said Tuesday that NATO allies should shoot down Russian aircraft encroaching on their airspace, and walked back earlier support for Russia to keep the Ukrainian territory it has won.

“I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form,” he wrote on social media shortly after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

For months as he tried to coax Russian Vladimir Putin into peace talks, Trump indicated Ukraine needed to be realistic about its long term prospects and military disadvantage, suggesting it would have to give up the land it had already lost in order to end the war.

Donald Trump was not yet two minutes into his first speech to the United Nations General Assembly of his second term when he credited himself for having single-handedly forged a world “that was prosperous and at peace.”

He was, of course, referring to his first term, which led into a screed about how the president who both followed and preceded him, Joe Biden, squandered it all ... largely by not being him.

Then, in what became just the first of many instances of denigrating the country he once again leads — on one of the biggest stages in the world — the 47th president groused about how “four years of weakness, lawlessness and radicalism” under the Biden administration had “delivered our nation into a repeated set of disasters.”

Sorry I'm depressed af and need answers. Are y'all even real? What if y'all are just part of the program to torture me? What if this is a test? What if this is a VR simulation and the societal collapse is just moral character test to see if I would be do anything about it? Like imaginr a society in the far future like 26th century and in a history class where people are wondering "why didn't the 21st century humans rise up against their oppressors" and then this VR simulation is just testing the students "what would you have done"

(Sorry for the bizzare question, its just brain chemicals acting weird today :P)

In short:

The ABC has been ordered to pay a fine of $150,000 to journalist Antoinette Lattouf for her unlawful termination.

Ms Lattouf had already been awarded $70,000 in compensation for non-economic loss.

The judge found the decision to remove Lattouf from ABC Radio Sydney was made to appease pro-Israel lobbyists behind a campaign of complaints.

"I have to say, I look at London where you have a terrible mayor — terrible, terrible mayor — and it's been so changed, so changed," Mr. Trump said during his address to world leaders at the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday. "Now they want to go to sharia law ... Both their immigration and their suicidal energy ideas will be the death of Western Europe."
