Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) on Wednesday raised the alarm over Iranian drones believed to be in Cuba.

“Iran has been a consistent threat to the united security interests of our country, certainly of Israel,” Bush said during a United Against Nuclear Iran event, serving as the group’s chair. “And now, we see that it’s not just Israel and the United States, but the Gulf region as well. I also want to point out that the press reports that there are 300 of these [drones] in Cuba.”

He said the U.S. has capabilities to protect the country before adding that “drones organize in clusters and can get through the defense capabilities, as we’ve seen in the Middle East as well.”

“I think it’s important to recognize that Iran has consistently been working with Cuba, Venezuela prior to the departure of Maduro from the regime, creating instability in not just in Cuba, but certainly in the region,” Bush said, referring to deposed Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

He praised the current administration’s efforts against Iran’s military capabilities, saying “we’re on the verge of creating a much more peaceable world by standing up against this aggression.”

Bush had for years drawn a hard line on Cuba. Before his 2016 Republican bid for the presidency, he shared then-Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-Fla.) sentiment that the U.S. should not negotiate with Cuba and ease relations. Bush has been held in high regard by Florida’s Cuban exile population.

“The idea of unilaterally changing our policy in return for nothing, I think, would yield nothing,” he told The New York Times in 2014.

Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-Fla.) joined Bush to emphasize the drones’ capacity to carry heavy explosive payloads over long distances, NBC 6 South Florida reported.

“This particular model, there is about over 100 pounds of explosives,” he said. “That’s a pretty big bang. That’s why they call them kamikaze drones — they crash into their target and they explode.”

Gimenez told WPLG Local 10, a Florida-based outlet, that these drones have “a range of about 2,500 kilometers, which from Cuba can reach all the way to New York.”

In May, Axios reported that Cuba acquired more than 300 military drones and discussed plans to attack the U.S. military base at Guantánamo Bay or Key West, Fla., citing classified intelligence. One unnamed senior U.S. official told the outlet that the buildup is a “growing threat.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth last month warned during a visit to Guantánamo Bay that U.S. forces were “postured for any possible contingency.”

The Trump administration has sought to pressure Cuba’s regime toward reform, imposing a blockade to prevent energy resources from reaching the island country for months. Cubans have endured sweeping blackouts, with many taking to the streets in protest against the government’s actions.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel warned against any U.S. military intervention following the publication of the Axios story, warning of a “bloodbath with incalculable consequences” if there is an attack.

We haven't seen her for 2 days but omg my partner woke me up from a nap and I wasn't even mad BECAUSE THE CAT CAME BACK. I've been so depressed all day because we were literally going to take her in for shots and stuff TODAY, but then we found out she has kittens she's probably still nursing, and then a storm happened and she stopped showing up (she had her kittens on a neighbor's porch, but she'd come running if I beckoned her, and I was giving her food and ice water on our porch so she'd show up like clockwork) and I've been so worried about her. My partner and I were both having fucking dreams about her 😭

I think maybe she moved her kittens to another neighbor's house, so she can't hear me going tstststststs for her. I dunno.

She's gone again, I'm hoping she comes back, though. I really wanted to trap her, especially after literally having dreams of her showing back up (i've been really upset about it), but we don't know where her kittens are right now.

I don't really know what to do if we see her again, if we can't find her kittens, but at least for now we know she's safe after that storm.

I love her so much. She lets me pick her up and hold her and purrs! My own stupid cats don't even like that! We named her Squidward because she has a deadpan "mrow" in his voice.

After everything we have endured during the war—hunger, fear, the lack of food and medical care, living in tents under the extreme summer heat, and struggling every day to find clean water—I never gave up on my dream of continuing my education.

By God’s grace, I have received university admission, giving me a real chance to build my future and become an engineer so I can support my family, who have placed all their hope in me.

Around the middle of the war, I created a fundraising campaign. Thanks to God and the kindness of people around the world, we were able to survive. The Counter-Revolution of 1776:Slave Resistance and the Origins of the United States of America.

As the United States of America, celebrate its independence anniversary declared on 4th July, 1776, we take a look at the history of America, the events that led to declaration of independence, and most importantly why declaration of independence was not a cause for celebration among all Americans, particularly for the native Americans and the enslaved African Americans. “For Native Americans, it may be a bitter reminder of colonialism, which brought fatal diseases, cultural hegemony and genocide. Neither did the new republic’s promise of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” extend to African Americans. The colonists who declared their freedom from England did not share their newly founded liberation with the millions of Africans they had captured and forced into slavery.”

The so-called Revolution was according to Professor Gerald Horne, was a ‘Counter-Revolution’ a conservative effort by American colonists to protect their system of slavery. Contrary to anonymous role often assign to African Americans in the American Revolution (which Prof. Gerald Horne refer to as Counter-Revolution) the prof. lucidly outline their roles and their major impact. The book is a great shift in paradgim.

On June 25, 1876, at the Battle of the Greasy Grass (Battle of Little Big Horn) Lakota, Arikara, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho defended Sioux and Cheyenne families living in south central Montana in a battle with the Seventh Regiment of the United States Cavalry.

As explained in An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States for Young People by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, adapted by Debbie Reese and Jean Mendoza:

In June 1876, a large encampment of nontreaty Sioux and Cheyenne families was gathered along the Little Bighorn River. Later that month, Custer and the Seventh Cavalry prepared to attack the encampment, but warriors led by Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull successfully intercepted them. Most textbooks call this the Battle of the Little Bighorn, but Lakota and Cheyenne people, especially those whose ancestors defended the encampment villages, know it as the Battle of the Greasy Grass.

Sioux chief Sitting Bull and Lakota leader Crazy Horse directed their warriors against Lieutenant George Armstrong Custer’s regiment of over 225 cavalry men near the Little Bighorn River. Custer and his men died in the battle, and the united tribes claimed victory over the U.S. military that week.

But the victory against the United States was short-lived. Crazy Horse died in 1877 in U.S. military custody, as that government worked steadily to disarm the nations of the western plains and force their people onto reservations. Sitting Bull lived another 14 years and was murdered at the Standing Rock Indian Reservation by an Indian Agent. He was targeted for his political power and his participation in the anti-imperialist spiritual movement, Ghost Dance.

Marble markers for the Seventh Cavalry were erected in 1890, but it was not until Memorial Day of 1999 that red granite markers were added to the historic site to honor the memory of the Lakota, Sioux, Arikara, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho who died the week of the Battle of Greasy Grass.

The US Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that Exxon Mobil can sue Cuban state-owned companies in American courts for more than $1 billion over an oil refinery, terminals, and hundreds of service stations that Cuba nationalized after its 1959 revolution, handing Washington a fresh weapon against the island it has blockaded for decades.

The 6-3 decision, written by Justice Brett Kavanaugh, held that the 1996 Helms-Burton Act strips Cuban state enterprises of the sovereign immunity that normally shields foreign governments from US lawsuits. The court’s three liberal justices dissented, with Justice Elena Kagan writing that the law contains no such provision.

Helms-Burton is the 1996 law that codified the decades-old US embargo of Cuba into statute, stripping any president of the power to lift it alone. Its Title III provision lets US nationals sue over property the Cuban government reclaimed from foreign corporations after the revolution, and sue all companies that later do business using those assets. The provision was considered so aggressive, and so likely to anger allies whose firms invest in Cuba and to poison any future US-Cuba settlement, that every president continued to suspend it in six-month incremental waivers for over two decades, until Trump let the suspension lapse in 2019. Exxon sued the same day.

The ruling lands as Trump tightens the screws on Havana, which is already reeling under a renewed US oil blockade that has caused brutal shortages and hardship across the island. Together with a similar decision last month (Havana Docks Corp. v. Royal Caribbean Cruises), it opens the door to thousands of pending claims, nearly 6,000 certified ones worth almost $2 billion before interest, seeking to extract wealth from a nation the US has worked to isolate since Cubans first took control of their own resources in 1960.
