British Airways has cancelled all flights into Dubai until summer - blaming the 'continued uncertainty' and 'airspace instability'.

The airline announced it would also suspend travel to Amman, Bahrain and Tel Aviv until after May 31.

Meanwhile, trips to Doha in Qatar are on hold until the end of April - while flights to Abu Dhabi have been called off until later this year.

The decision marks the longest major airline cancellation announced so far during the US-Israel war on Iran, which has now entered its third week.

It comes just hours after an Iranian drone hit a fuel tank near Dubai Airport, sparking a massive fire.

Flights were diverted and roads to the airport were closed as a pall of black smoke could be seen from several miles away.

The airline Emirates was forced to divert flights mid-air - with services from Heathrow, Edinburgh, Manchester and Dublin among those returned to their original departure point.

Since the strike, no major airline has resumed flights to Dubai.

British holidaymakers are rebooking Easter trips away from Dubai due to the war in neighbouring Iran, causing a spike in demand for "reassuring" destinations, travel firms have told the BBC.

There is mass disruption to passenger flights across the Middle East and warnings not to travel to large parts of the region or the United Arab Emirates.

This has sparked a sharp slowdown in holiday bookings there - as well as countries close to Iran, such as Turkey, Cyprus and Egypt, travel firms said.

Meanwhile, bookings are up in Portugal, Italy and Spain as well as the Caribbean, Mauritius and the US as some airports report flights filling up faster than last year.

I heard they were sending missiles to the UAE. I said, “That’s strange, you know? The UAE is like the banker for Iran.” They’re sort of the banker. Qatar, their neighbors — they got along okay.

Then suddenly Saudi Arabia, Kuwait — Kuwait is getting hit. Bahrain is getting hit. All of these countries are getting hit.

No expert would have predicted that this was going to happen.

It’s not a question of whether we should have known. Even if we had known, we still have to do what we have to do.

Three foreign survivors of a drone strike on a building in Dubai have reportedly been arrested after they sent photographs of the explosion to their loved ones.

The individuals were inside their Creek Harbour apartments when a drone struck on Wednesday evening, causing a big explosion.

In the aftermath, they took photos which they then sent privately to family members to reassure them of their safety.

They were later arrested by police after officers requested to see their phones, according to campaign group Detained in Dubai.

The CEO of the group Radha Stirling wrote on X: 'Three traumatised survivors of an Iran drone strike were arrested after privately sharing a photo with loved ones confirming they were alive following an explosion on their apartment floor. Instead of receiving victim support, they were locked up by Dubai police.'

Stirling said that authorities should take a compassionate approach towards people who reacted instinctively during the terrifying moment, and warned this risked punishing victims rather than those acting maliciously.

The arrests are part of a desperate public relations campaign, with Dubai officials telling people the 'big booms' in the sky are 'the sound of us being safe' as the UAE air defence system takes action.
