- Lemmy.world is not loading, and I am encountering an error when opening a new page.

Please start by checking the following links to see if Lemmy.world is experiencing any issues:

- I am experiencing an issue with the client I'm using.

Are you using a client other than the website itself? Is the issue specific to that client? If so, please contact the developer of the app or web client you are using.

Here are some popular apps/web clients you can reach out to:

- I am unable to create a community, and I keep seeing a spinning circle.

Please check if the desired community name is available.

- There is a community I want to moderate, but the moderators appear to be inactive.

Please email us at info@lemmy.world or create a post in this community.

- Did we defederate, or did someone else defederate from us?

Visit https://gui.fediseer.com/instances/detail/lemmy.world for information about defederation of any instance.

Alternatively check https://defed.xyz/ and enter "lemmy.world" to view a complete list of defederations.

- I cannot access my account.

For assistance with account access issues, please email us at info@lemmy.world. We cannot assist with these matters in the comments section due to privacy concerns.

- Why am I banned from this specific community?

Lemmy offers transparency, and you can check the modlog of the community to understand the reason behind the ban. If you have further questions, feel free to send a private message to one of the moderators. If you have other issues, please email us at info@lemmy.world.

- Can this feature be added to the website?

If you would like to request a feature to be added to Lemmy, please contact the Lemmy developers on GitHub or reach out to the developer of your preferred (web) client. Instances like ours cannot directly add features to the website.

This is a screenshot of comment getting removed from https://lemmy.world/post/36538255

They reference rule 2. There is no bigotry or harassment in this comment.

I have blocked an instance in my profile settings, which seems to block posts. However the instance's user-comments still come through and are still visible and they react to my comments.

I blocked a few users from that instance which makes the comments disappear, but how can I block all users?

I'd like to take over the customs_broker community, I am in contact with the creator/original mod via Discord and they no longer use Lemmy and forgot their login credentials. I'm the only person posting on it and would like to try and get it going again.

I noticed recently that /c/acecombat is currently without any moderators, and so would like to request for either myself or one of the other active community members (like @Gaxsun@lemmy.zip) to be made a moderator in case we need to clean anything up. Thanks in advance.

The error page for lemmy.world has two links, one to the support forum and one to the matrix room. Both links points to https://lemmy.ml/c/lemmy_support.

Is that intended?

Recieve this error when attempting to add or remove saved post: Client error. Code: 403. Message: Rate limit timed out..

Also, adding a profile picture produces "Server understood request but denied it."

I'm trying to edit to fix a post I made in Ten Forward, but it keeps giving me 'Error' when I try to save the edit. It doesn't appear to have gotten locked or anything like that, because I checked for that, and there is nothing in the ModLog there about it either. So, I'm wondering if there is some sort of bug.

I have https://lemmy.world/c/casual_perchance which was made so perchance.org users could chat about ai prompting since it wasnt allowed in the main perchance community. It eventually turned in to the place to host community events of perchance. As it's mostly ai related and not catchy memes, often passerby browsing /all downvote things, which causes most of the users, many of which dont use lemmy except to post in events or about perchance, to feel unneeded negativity. I read a recent post which encouraged me to ban the passerby downvoters to deal with it, but i recently read Admins can also make a community not show up in /all. Can you please do that to my community? thank you!

Hey all! I currently moderate a small roleplay community on Reddit where we play mostly lighthearted scenarios about typical village life with our characters. Recently, Reddit pretty much killed our sub by banning a significant part of our most active users (probably because they believe they're spam bots, but they are refusing to even answer us about what happened), so we're looking at possibly switching platforms... The thing is: it's pretty common for users to have multiple accounts, each representing a character played, which are sometimes active in the same post. They stay in our own community, though. Typically, users have 3-5 characters, although we have one extreme case where a user is building their story with ~50 characters (Yeah, I can see why Reddit would flag that, but interestingly that user is unaffected).

We played around with Lemmy a little and the platform would be suitable for us. But to avoid such a thing happening again, I wanted to ask here before we switch over, since we're not exactly acting like "normal" users. Is this behavior okay for the instance admins, and are there any automated systems we have to be aware of?

Thanks for your time!

Requesting to mod a couple comms I've been posting to and have noticed they've been abandoned

!umpc@lemmy.world - mod @Swagadactyl@lemmy.world has had no activity for 2 years

!tmobileus@lemmy.world - both mods @aa123@lemmy.world (no activity for the past 2 years) and @thegoodnamesaregone6@lemmy.world (no activity for the past year)

!indianapolis@lemmy.world - mod @RainfallSonata@lemmy.world hadn't been active for a year, surfaced 4 months ago with a new post (on an unrelated comm) on May 14th. I noticed the post on May 28th and DMd them, but hasn't been seen since so they seemingly went dormant again and I didn't message them in time for them to see it

Thank you!

Is anything going to be done with Jordanlunds behavior or attacking users who question decisions?

When brought up in power tripping bastards that he was quick to go offensive he began to attack or harrass everyone.

Is this behavior acceptable?

Linked thread is only the most recent example of this behavior from the mod.

Mod Abuse:

https://lemmy.world/modlog/1432313?page=1&actionType=All

The instance has 3 active subs, it's unlikely the admins are not also the mods engaging in this.

Banning anyone who downvotes is a clear attempt to foster a chilling effect on dissenting opinions. The mods and admins of this instance are putting their thumb on the scales in order to make their ideas appear more positively received than they actually are.

Thanks for your attention to this.

EDIT: the mod responsible for these actions has been caught voting multiple times using a variety of sockpuppet accounts.

It's my old lemm.ee account, since the instance is dead it makes little sense to keep the account as a mod there, but I can't remove it myself since I'm not a higher mod.

Same for !neocities@lemmy.world and !facepalm@lemmy.world

I was trying the API and made a few requests to see how it works a few days back. There were only a few requests and I did not post or comment using api.

Could you help in whitelisting the IP? Range is 49.37.224.xxx

Is there any restriction or any best practise I should follow when using api?

Hello, I’m interested in taking over !dachshund@lemmy.world - the only mod @Auzzeren@lemmy.world has not been active for 2 years and has not replied to my recent messages about co-moderating.

Thank you!

I suspect I caught a ban and this caused the glitch? When I make an edit and hit save, the post blinks and goes back to the original. If I click save on a post, there's a hesitation, then nothing.

This happened before, then went away and now it's back. It is 100% my account because a new account works fine and this account fails in the same manner in both Firefox and Edge.

Anyone?

How can I change my community’s URL? I haven’t found a setting that allows me to change it. If I can’t change it, I want to delete it and reopen it, but it won’t delete.

Can we upload videos here? I tried doing so, it seemed to gladly take my file at first, showing its usual spinning animation, but then it just stayed there.

Looking thru the network devtool, I noticed it silently had the 400 error for the very HTTP POST request responsible for the upload. In the response, I found:

{
  "error": "unknown",
"message": "Request error: error sending request for url (http://pictrs:8080/image): operation timed out"
}

It would be great if I could upload some videos, but otherwise I would totally be cool if it at least tells me that my upload have failed instead of just quietly failing in the background while the I wait in uncertainty.

Anyone else having problems accessing the site through iCloud private relay (it’s Apple’s VPN)? Did Lemmyworld block this IP range? Or am I the only one having this problem?
