I promise whatever your current PC is can run Linux just fine. Pull the trigger. Install Linux on a USB, boot your current hardware to the thumb drive to take it for a spin, when you can see it works fine, flash the main drive with Linux and don’t look back.

That is also the plan! I’m just waiting for 40,000+ photos and videos to finish transferring to a cloud drive I obtained, I’ve got a couple distributions ready to tool around with on a drive, just a few more days and I’m going to finally start the process of getting off this microslop nonsense I’ve been looped into since the 90s.
