Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
  7. This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.

A small business owner who voted for Donald Trump recently posted a video on TikTok, pleading for help as crushing tariffs on China threatened to bankrupt his operation, which imports alloy wheels. His call for support, however, drew little sympathy from some fellow Americans.

“Votes have consequences,” he was told, with many comments from Twitter/X users relishing the notion that another MAGA voter was suffering because of their political choice. The backlash prompted a second video from the man, in which he dropped several F-bombs while criticizing the apparent heartlessness of those celebrating his hardship.

I am once again reminded of that manufacturing company owner who was shocked by the price of a made in america machine going up so much due to tariffs

like mf do you not realize how that machine gets made? the people who make it in america buy tons of parts from other countries because it's cheaper, so yeah when they have to buy those parts here or pay tariffs because they literally cannot get the parts here, its going to cost more.

the number of people who own businesses and are absolute fucking dumbasses is just astounding to me. like good on them for having initiative, but wow is it ever surprising how many are stupid

There are also an unimaginable amount of parts and raw resources that are only available from very specific suppliers or countries. The economy is global and in 2026 no country is an economic island. This was always going to be the outcome. Every economist, manufacturer, and logistics expert on the planet pointed this out repeatedly. And that’s before we even touch on how shitty these factory jobs are. Dangerous, tedious, awful jobs are what you want for your country? No, the whole thing was always about robbing USians to give give free money to billionaires.
