Interesting safety feature about the fedverse is that it will also protect your password.

For example, here is mine:

It looks fine to me.

Snapshots are still accessible on the Wayback machine, and I think a ton of snippets are available as an archive of text files too!

I'm bummed it's gone.

Mine is 1234, which also happens to be my luggage combo.

[–] evidences@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I was listening to a podcast talking about the 2012 LinkedIn hack and after it was found out 750,000 people used 123456 as their password, I'm tempted to believe you.

If you press Alt-F4 it lets you see account emails.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 3 points 1 day ago

Good. Thanks for helping me test this. Don't worry about what I wrote, comrade.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 14 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

Yeah, and we have like 0.07% of their reach.

You can fool some people some time, you can fool some people all the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time.

Unfortunately, you don't have to fool all the people all the time, 99.93% of the people most of the time will do just fine. Shit, 51% is plenty enough.

[–] DarkSideOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

On politics with a 65% turnout election, you need more than 32.5%

This why 40% approval is enough to win. Specially if your rival is purist and doesn’t vote for many reasons.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh, they'll get around to shanking lemmy eventually. We should enjoy it while it lasts.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I ain't enjoying shit of this, I just consider it one of the last spaces of the free exchange of ideas and information left. I heard BlueSky is already on the chopping block. Like healthy cells surrounded by metastases, one by one they get consumed.

But maybe I wax too dramatic when I'm tired and drunk, and the morning is young as the old night dies. I can go on, et cetera, alas, and so forth. Hark. Would you render yonder and caress my Sony Trinitron screen of vint most fine? My cask thumps hollow!

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

We like to shit on Tik Tok, but you're right that their reach is absolutely massive. Recently when Democrats were writing op eds and taking out ads saying that troops should ignore illegal orders, a high ranking member of the military (I forget who) commented that the messaging was ineffective because troops almost universally get their "news" through Tik Tok.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Soldiers will obey orders. That's what they do.

My Lai, Abu Ghraib, Kent State, Bonus Army March.

Soldiers aren't trained to be moral philosophers, they're paid to do what they're told

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Be all you're told to be.

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

One finger to swipe leaves a hand free for munching crayons.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Proving the point perfectly. They aren't paid to think. They're paid to follow orders.

When the time comes, they will not hesitate to fire upon US civilians, and those who do will be shot alongside them.

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It does? I didn't see it can someone write it two or three more times just to be sure?
