I don't think we have much to worry about seeing as each robot needed about three people running beside them just in case.
Also why did they make one of them a dwarf ๐
Robot development isn't going to end today. Last year this race couldn't be run at all, next year I bet one will run autonomously. Ten years from now they will be running obstacle courses.
It's probably a flex. Look how small we can make our motors and circuits. Also I am sure there are tons of industrial uses for short robots such as working underneath cars and such.
I think working on ducts/conduits in hazardous areas would be more likely, for cars you can just use existing tech such as the car lifts you see in every mechanic workshop ๐.
