I just use it for marketplace, and when I get on I check the feed and it's worse every time I get on, glitchy, doesn't show you friend posts anymore all groups instead, and otherwise just is unpleasant to use. They aren't making it better either or fixing any of those glitches because they've no competition I would add.

But a straight laced guy I know, had his business on there, not breaking any laws, older, got his account removed with no explanation, no way for him to contact anyone, everything gone, for supposedly violating community standards.

We should have rights, we should have a clear set of rules with an appealable process but also legal protections for when the rules are applied unfairly. Instead we have the government and big business pressuring them to apply the rules unfairly or else they will go after them on regulation and what have you. Half the time it's the government that is the one behind someone getting banned for no good reason, whereas in civilized countries they can appeal unfair actions to a court to reinstate users, as I understand it.

I only use it for marketplace too with a fake name and only access it on a computer that I don’t care about much. Fuck Facebook for taking my precious Craigslist away from me.

They have long been banning people for that, I think 15 years have said people have to use their real names, and have froze peoples' accounts (not letting them delete them until unfroze,) and demanded ID and video of themselves moving this way and that and doing such and such. Even then they've denied legitimate users I've heard so it's odd.

But they do target people for using fake names, and it's getting enshrined into law in a lot of places if we don't stop them. Lawmakers really want to be able to crush any dissent, whether it's on their foreign policy, climate change, environmental protests, or soon protests about them, and economic situations. They want age checks identifying every account and ip and palantir type organizations giving social scores and distributing threat assessments to business and government to be used against you secretly in a way you cannot know about or challenge.

Being rolled out worldwide at the same time, surrendering us to tech.

My account is ancient so good luck I guess

I don't care if mine gets proscribed, I will quit using it before I verify my identity, even if I could trust them not to let others have my identity. I am currently removing all internet companies that forced me to use my phone to verify my account despite me not wanting that ever.

Except for like my bank, but even then, I want email to work, I don't want to be locked out of everything if I lose my phone, it's charge, or it's service. And it's not like it's secure either.

I will switch to the fediverse and wait for people to come to us before I hand them my personal information they use for commercial purposes and give to the government and business interests without my say so.

Just stop though. Even marketplace. Your use is still condoning and advocating it. You are encouraging others to rely on it.

Same with Instagram and what's app.

Just stop people.

Where can we get used stuff without it though? There are no classified ads.

I want to quit, I can't not get used gear sometimes I don't have the money to buy new all the time.

I want to quit but I need it sometimes for that if there are no other workable options.

Ask people. Craigslist. Offerup. Neighborhood swaps.

Do you absolutely need to buy things?

Either way, the reason there aren't other options is because people aren't quitting. So they won. And you are basically handing money over to Facebook to do more of the same.

The only way out is to quit.

I don't have Facebook and I manage. You can too.

The work I do I need a lot of like tools and stuff is part of my problem but yeah I already try the other options first, same thing with Amazon it's the only option to get a lot of stuff that just doesn't exist in stores and is unworkable to order directly from vendors.

Like brewing yeasts, phone charging cords, all sorts of stuff they don't sell at any stores. The yeast I could find elsewhere easy enough, little electronics things with shipping and handling it's unworkable but I am trying to use it less, I live 50 miles from a major store here too so that's a factor.
