I haven't found any confirmation anywhere, but I know some of the people at DINUM are active NixOS maintainers, and I've seen some NixOS-based development in that space:
As a french and daily nixos user, this is great.
Nixos or a derivative would make a ton of sense for an administration, just load the same config on all the computers and voila! Each department can have it's own variation of the config.
