Today’s game is Super Releasio 64. Now, what is this game? I wish I could explain it with such unique… eloquence as this game presents itself, but it’s Super Mario 64 where almost everything is replaced with Toad. It’s almost impressive in a way.
I’ve dabbled in this game in the past, I’ve made it pretty damn far. But I was telling a friend about this and stopped before going “you know. It’s better if I show him”. So 20 minutes later (because Mupen64 apparently can’t run this) and I’ve got this wonderful Toad Themed purgatory running.
The boss fights are the biggest challenge. Like Whomp here I’m struggling with because when I kill him and he stands up to talk to me, it flings me to my death. I only managed to get the first star by doing the Chain Chomp star instead of King Bob-omb. His start was impossible because you have to flank him to get to it.
In a way this was a fun challenge. And oddly enough the music was pretty good at times. The Toad Slide theme got stuck in my head weirdly enough. I really found it fun to try, but very much it’s a trying experience. With how jacked up the physics are you have to be really patient. I saw someone did a version without the horrendous physics, so just Toad and Toad screaming in your ear. So I might try that just to see if I can get a little bit further. From what I understand the guy that made this made it because he was being pestered to finish another mod, which, if this is his response I can only imagine how tired he must have been from being pestered.
