Coal emissions, and coal as a proportion of total power generation is going down, not up, because these newly commissioned coal plants are replacements for older, dirtier plants that no longer meet China's pollution regulations.
China is adding an absolutely ludicrous amount of green energy to their grid per year.
It went down before too….. and then it shot back up to all time high levels.
The proportion of power that coal makes is irrelevant when they’re still increasing coal use. Just because solar if increasing faster doesn’t mean coal is dropping. You don’t open a hundred new coal mines a year to use less coal o.
I know Lemmy loves communism, but even you guys can’t try and defend Chinas emissions as anything other than disastrously high if you think the climate is changing. They’re literally the main cause of it if it is carbon emissions caused.
