They're fun to drive, they just break incredibly easy in weird spots. Like the seatbelt holder/guide? Why would that break. We don't own one, but have rented a few of them when we go to Hawaii.

I'm sure they are fun to drive off road, but the only time I've been in wranglers has been pavement princesses and they are super uncomfortable and drive like steaming dog shit on paved roads
They're fun to drive on pavement too. They have good turning radius and they're fast. I wouldn't own one though, I think they'd be in the shop a lot.
Well, if you're renting, you have no idea what the previous renters treated it like. Just remember, you're sharing a planet with idiots. They might have just been punching the seatbelt holder for no reason. And then you, not having that information, are like "why's the seatbelt holder broken?"
It was pretty fucking cheaply made. There were other things that were odd too, I just don't remember them all. I understand what you're saying though, especially in Hawaii. Even having taken that into account, there were some really odd, cheaply made decisions on jeep's part.

We do things very inexpensively in real life so we can afford to go to Hawaii every so often. We have super old cars so we can afford to go to Hawaii every so often. I know you're trolling, I just don't get why. Last comment.

This is middle class, nowhere close to rich. This is actually how most of the western world lives.

The middle class is a myth in the United States. Has been for a long time. The rest of the western world is not where I live, so I don't really care about how they live.

Affordable to whom? People who have high enough paying jobs to actually save and are also able to take time off from work? That's "plenty" of people, sure. But they're all assholes. At least here in the U.S.

I'm not trying to be an asshole, my evidence is anecdotal, but widely approved but other people in the front-end customer service business. It's not a value judgement. Assholes are just in a state of... becoming? Most of them are just ignorant. But it takes one to know one, I guess?

There are a surprising number of these losers on lemmy.
They think having literally any money, any financial stability or disposable income makes you the ‘ultra rich’ enemy.
Owning a car is too rich for many of them, forget owning a house, and if your net worth ever exceeds a million dollars you need the guillotine.
Then they’re shocked the working class aren’t on board with them.
Once upon a time, a net worth of a million was a fortune. Now, it's basically the minimum for a comfortable retirement.
Inflation has made millionaires working class.
If people that can save up a million dollars for a comfortable retirement are working class, what class are the rest of us then?
Working class simply means someone who works for a living. They’re not earning passive income from capital.
An engineer earning $250k a year is working class.
They’ll work for the majority of their healthy lifespan and likely retire with a net worth in the millions unless they’re squandering everything.
If you don’t fall into the category where you actually work then you’re the unemployed poor, not working class.
If you work for fuck all income (below the poverty line despite working) you’re the working poor.
They’re fact you need this explained should really highlight how little you know and understand about economics, employment and wealth.
It sounds like you're using a lot of terms created specifically to divide the working class. I agree that an engineer making $250k is working class, as long as they legitimately have no passive income, which at that level of pay, you probably have some passive income, right? Maybe you're not a landlord but you're probably investing and seeing returns form that, right? You may even have some healthy crypto holdings that you don't talk about on the internet but won't shut up about in real life.
Yes, I am the "working poor". That's what my parents were, that what all of my siblings are, and that's what I will be for the rest of my life. There's no way out. And for that reason, I am obviously bitter towards people who will be able to achieve my lifelong dream of owning a home and retiring, because those people most likely grew up in a home that was owned by their parents and now have parents who are comfortably retiring, and therefore have no real appreciation for what they have.
I’m not dividing anyone, these are the generally accepted terms for people’s income brackets and method of earning income.
You are lashing out at working class people for daring to do something easily obtainable for the majority of working class people.
You regularly comment on the economy and politics yet you don’t even understand who your peers are meant to be in the struggle against income inequality.
It’s not a struggle between cashier and doctor.
It’s the working class and the owner class that are in different lanes of a K shaped economy.
Owning a few shares doesn’t make your income passive. Shares are the best long term vehicle for retirement savings and people should be building investments their whole working life so they can afford to retire.
I'm not saying you're dividing people, I'm saying you're using terms made to divide the working class. Those generally accepted terms literally exist so people like doctors don't have to feel like they're in the same class as cashiers.
You say obtainable for the "majority of working class people", but I've seen very few cases of this actually happening in a meaningful way. You come from a higher income bracket, you stay in a higher income bracket. You come from a lower income bracket, you most likely stay in a lower income bracket.
I'm fully aware of who the struggle is against. My problem is that these "working class" "middle class" whatever you want to call them "class" people tend to think of themselves as "coming up" or "temporarily embarrassed", and try not to lump themselves in with "the poors". I have no faith that these people would want to actually change what would need to be changed, because it would damage their chances of becoming legitimately wealthy one day, and if you're already that close, you're not going to want to give up that shot.
It's emblematic in a lot of these comments, actually. People who seem to just straight up not understand/appreciate their own levels of privilege. That's the thing that pissed me off to begin with: just somebody living in Seattle (one of the most expensive COL areas in the country) talking about their multiple trips to Hawaii, and casually talking about owning multiple cars. It's so out of touch. That's not remotely the world that most of the working class live in. It's about as unrealistic for me as owning multiple mansions and yachts and private jets. We do not share the same class interests.
And the part that makes me saddest isn't even how obvious it is that this "working class" you're talking about don't even care about the "working poor", it's that they don't even think about the "working poor".
It's the way you view the world when you grew up dirt poor, and continue to be dirt poor despite doing everything that you were "supposed" to do to have a comfortable life and realize that you will never own a home or retire (literally the only things I've ever wanted since childhood) because you're in that perfect sweet spot where your COL will always outpace you wage increases, even if you switch to a better job every 2-3 years. Am I bitter? Yes. But I'm not going to pretend that people that make upper six figures, own multiple cars and homes are in the same class as I am just to make myself feel better.
How dare someone manage to claw themselves into the middle class! For shame!

I doubt anybody clawed themselves to anything. People rarely are able to change their class just by working hard. It almost always takes a generational wealth transfer of some sort
