This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.
We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.
No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.
6. No linking to piracy
Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.
We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

It's a cute device. My only concern is, how durable is the screen? Does it use Gorilla display like on smartphones, so it can handle scratches and a fall from small height in example? I think a clamshell design would have been better, but then you cannot use the display without opening it up. On the other side, for all those tasks you would use without opening it up, I would probably prefer my phone. I'm probably a more practical guy. This definitely need some extra protection layer.
I don't want to sound too negative here, as I just focus one aspect while watching the images and videos. The form factor is pretty cool and I'm glad Anbernic is experimenting with many designs. So this is not a complaint reply here.
It definitely isn't Corning who are covering the top of this one. It just 'feels' the same as my phone screens, but I'm not actually sure what the surface is! Someone else asked me to check, so I've asked my friend at Anbernic (will update here if I remember!). All I can say for sure now is that it has the exact same feel as all my phones do.
I'm like you though, in that I'll be very interested in how this looks after say 6 months of use. It does come with a screen protector, and the soft case it has will protect it in transit.
