The best time to get a job is when you already have one. Interview like you don't need it.... because you don't.

Throwing your resume out a couple times a year helps you find out who and what is hiring in your sector.

A real hack I actually have is whenever I have a bad day at my current job, I apply for a job.

A real hack I actually have is whenever I have a bad day at my current job, I apply for a job.

I do that, as well. Feels better than doing nothing, and keeps my name and resume in front of potential employers.

I figure it also helps other job seekers, since if the job isn't perfect, I tell them the potential employer they're not paying enough for me to make a change. (Which I figure creates a higher salary expectation for whoever does take the job.)

Exactly. The best way to prepare for an interview is to have a ton of savings in the bank, so you can show up with the honest attitude that it doesn't really matter to you how the interview goes.
