(All it says in the Qur'an is that men have a "degree of responsibility above women", which is what I have experienced in my life since I either often have to make decisions for/convince several female family members their decisions are right. It is what it is, but subservient? I'm the one subservient to them! I'm always on the clock and ready to manage stuff, lol.)
