Oh! I do so wish we could have shared childhood together! You would have loved my Gram, she played badminton with us, took us through the wood to build treehouses, pick blackberries and Scuppernongs, and use Gramps old army shovel to dig out the bottom of the creek, using the mud to build a dam, so we had a chest - deep (to us children) swimming hole and joined us in it!

That would have been heavenly to me as a child! I used to daydream about things like that. What was her cooking like?

Her pastries and desserts were fabulous. The gram on the other side is what you wanted for meals. Plenty of butter and bacon grease and seasonings for flavor. Before instapot days and she was already pressure-cooking+frying chicken and pork chops, we made homemade liver pudding , sausages etc fresh from our own stock, fruit and veggies fresh from our own gardens and trees, and even homemade wine

Both were great at jams, jellies and sweet puddings.

All great/ gramps may or not have known something about homemade liquors and brandies.🤐
