I went to Honeygrow for the first time yesterday. Its like a salad version of Chipotle. When i was picking up my order at the counter someone was clocking in by scanning their face. I asked, "do you need to scan your face to clock in?" And she said yes in and out every day.

Ive never seen this anywhere but I dont have a job that requires clocking in anymore. This is also a place that wants you to make a profile (email and phone number) and sign in when placing your order. I opted for "guest" to avoid that.

What is the purpose of this? When i was a kid you had a manager who would know who was working. Is this like some tech solution to removing a manager, or is this something else.

Everyone has to do a face scan to enter the building we're working at. "Security" they say. Bullshit, we used to use cards for that.

I bet the genius idea for that case is "to ensure it's you who showed up" and not "someone pretending to be you", depending on how the clock in/out used to be before. I have to use my fingerprint and work card to clock in/out, which is pretty efficient in stopping "people pretending to be me" but a fucking hassle nonetheless.
