With the worldwide wave of social media bans on major platforms aka digital verification, I wonder if we'll see an influx of people to the Fediverse?

Probably will see an influx of new accounts, then some will drift away and some will stay.

Yep, this. I feel that the fediverse is actually shrinking. It seems more and more posts are just political and political news posts, and people are getting tired of that.

Just my "feeling" tho, so maybe I'm wrong.

But NONE of my friends who I steered toward Lemmy stayed. They all said this place just seemed to just be political arguing everywhere and nothing interesting. I know that the guy who started the tesseract lemmy app, said that's why he was leaving. As well as the admin for lemmings.world is closing his instance because of it. I think the admin for lemy.lol is gonna close because of the same thing (EDIT: it got saved tho, cm002 is taking over as new admin).

I've gotten KYS DM's for posting neutral news from APNews that the person didn't think was "anti-Tr*mp" enough. lol

So as long as it stays as extreme like this, the regular normies are prolly gonna check it out, realize that the platform is too negative, then decide to go outside. lol

The fediverse is going to be more politically charged because picking it over corporate media is already a largely ideological choice.
