Michael Jordan didn't retire that first time. He was suspended for his gambling addiction, but you can't suspend your highest profile player without the league dying, so they came up with a cover story.
Convienent that his dad had just died then and he was burned out from playing into June every year.
That's actually another conspiracy theory: His dad was killed b/c he owed gambling money to the mob & didn't pay.
Dang, never heard this one before but its believable. MJ did put his all into baseball tho, his managers and teammates were convinced he would have made the majors after a year.
Wasn't his dad possibly murdered because of those gambling debts?
That's conspiracy theory number 2.
Uhh why would they care if he had a gambling addiction? Like you said, he was great for the league...
Bad optics when he's betting on NBA games, like Pete Rose & MLB.
There's so many other things you could do without suspending him for two years. Also, knowing him, he would have publicly come out slamming the NBA if he really was suspended for gambling.
So you actually know him then? Cool! How's he doing?
He's doing about as well as a multi billionaire retired NBA living legend can be.
