Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
  7. This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.
  8. All Lemmy.World Terms of Service apply.

How did Israel transition from a US base in the Middle East into the country that visibly holds the keys? Blackmail? Money? Religion? What the hell happened?

Money. Politics is always all about money. Not ideals/virtues. Not borders. Not cultures. Not ideas. Not what the people need.

I find myself asking this question more and more... But not just the US. How the fuck does Israel have so much power over so many countries. Like just look at the UK and how they're treating anyone even protesting for Palestine. It's insane how much power they have over so many countries... I just don't understand how.

A giant honeypot operation whose goal was to ensnare as many prominent politicians and business leaders as they could into raping children.

Israel has nukes pointed at everyone in range, enemy and ally alike and will fire if there's a chance of Israel "falling."

Gotta be the Epstein blackmail?

Ghislaines dad was an Israeli agent

It's so insane. It's just blatant they dictate our foreign policy at this point.

And it's disappointing that the Dems are scared of doing without the election funding.

I get it. It's understandable that they don't trust voters to look past name recognition and ads. But... I still think it's a bad call. Being beholden to Israel isn't worth it, even if it makes us more likely to lose elections.

Call your Dems. Tell them you want transparency in funding, even if it is AIPAC.

Dems as a party could make a big show of rejecting AIPAC altogether and returning all the money. That'd buy them more publicity and goodwill than ads can buy. At least the next cycle.

Good question, but it's important to note that they only have as much power as they do because they're being allowed to do so by the US political establishment. It's not like Israel is writing US foreign policy in the Middle East from the ground up; US foreign policy just happens to be close enough to what Israel wants to do that that's what it looks like. That's the base on top of which the blackmail, money and religion are acting, as evidenced by how none of those factors would ever make America act like this with, say, China.
