Can a portable KeePassXC work on any OS? (lemmy.ca)

I wanted to switch to KeePassXC and I wanted to download it on a encrypted USB drive for portability. I know I can do this on Windows, but will the password manager work on other OSes? I switch between Windows and Linux, and I want to make sure that I can do it on both. I read an online article that says its possible, but you need to make sure you have a certain file on the drive for it to work?

Like others pointed out, You probably would only need to keep the database file. But, if you don't want to install it on all the PCs, you can also put portable exe, and the AppImage of KeePassXC also in the USB. Then launch the app with exe file on windows and appimage on linux. You may need to manually open the database file everytime tho idk abt that
