Well yeah. There is a website isaiprofitable and paints it into bubble. I made an oposite site, isaiuseful. People can’t handle anything that goes against their worldview there. There are people spamming isaiprofitable everywhere but moment you link to isaiuseful you are gonner. Lost my 14 years of account overnight to shadowban.

You’re going to have a rough time around here if you think reddit was anti-ai. The fediverse is pretty anti-ai, too.

I just had a look at both websites, since I didn't know either of them. I don't understand your website, isaiuseful. The isaiprofitable website uses hard numbers from financial reports to paint a picture. Facts. Isaiuseful... Has no factual data? No references to scientific research done to the usefulness of AI? How exactly is this website supposed to tell me if AI has been useful in the world so far?

I guess having been using AI for years I did not even think there are people not addicted to it. To me it’s like air. I will add samples at somepoint for people who don’t live and breath ai daily.

And people saying things like that wonder why nobody wants to talk to them. Thanks for providing a great example in the failings of the education system.

Doesn't matter if it's useful if it's too expensive to use for the majority of use cases it has. Voice assistants like the echo are useful and people like them. However they aren't particularly profitable because people hate when they get monetised and won't use them that way.

AI is likely the same, most of the stuff it's being used for... even vibe coding where it's been hyped to the moon and back, probably aren't viable when the total cost of the compute needed for training and running are actually been charged for.

I’m running localAi, without a meter. Yeah its expensive to get started (~4800€ for dgx spark) but next to monthly bill from Ai inference that is 30k€ it pays for itself in less than a month even if you cannot fully offload your work to it.

Again, most people don't find it that useful that they will drop that kind of money on it even up front. Telling me that you are an outlier than has gone all in on AI and can't live without it doesn't really change the point I was making does it? Most people will just skip using AI if they have to pay for it and don't use it to "offload" most of their work to which frankly just makes you sound lazy.

So yes, I was right.
