It could be worse. He could have battered and deep-fried the sushi before dipping it in Ranch.

I had exactly this. Deep fried sushi. At a place in Ukraine. It was soooo good.

Well, they say two wrongs don't make a right, but you might be onto something here.

I've had 'sushi' where the meat was, cooked, chicken and the roll was tempura battered and fried.

It was good, as fried foods tend to be

I have also had it and it was delicious. I consider it a stepping stone to getting hesitant Americans to give sushi a try.

California/Volcano roll is my goto.

I tried eel first (wasn't told what it was until I confirmed it was good😂)

You... um, well... okay that actually sounds pretty good and I'd totally try it

You joke, but there are indeed tempura fried rolls and they are in fact delicious. I personally think then having ranch dip is quite a step too far.

A tempura fried shrimp roll with a good ranch would go so hard

[–] zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 9 hours ago

I had exactly that, but with soy sauce and a hefty amount of wasabi. It was excellent. I don't like ranch at all, so that part wouldn't appeal to me.

I had a sushi burrito once, it was pretty good.

YOU try living in the shithole Midwest and see how long you go without looking at a candy bar and wishing it was covered in batter and fried.
