Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

They offer 15 years of warranty for that part, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah. Only issue is waiting time. You can be without a car for a long time while waiting for replacement part.

My concern would be having it break while I'm far from home. Even if not far from home it's still a hassle to get it fixed, with the wait times and possible need for a rental vehicle. If I had a second vehicle then I wouldn't be quite as concerned - but I don't want or (otherwise) need a second vehicle.

It's a shame, as I'd otherwise consider the Ioniq 5 as a good alternative to the Model Y.

You have to make sure to stick to the service intervals and that a used one had all services Döner in time, if you plan to buy one. A few hundred miles over the service and the guarantee will be void.

There shouldn't be much to service, no?

Well no, I just saw a video about a EV6 that is used as a taxi and has 300.000km on the clock. It had no issues, even still the first set of brakes. "Only" the ICCU was replaced and to get that in warranty, you have to make sure that all services were done in time, it your warranty is void.

The Ioniq 5 and 6 as well as the EV6 share the same platform. The pre facelift models have a weakness with the thermal design of the ICCU Kia/Hyundai have extended the warranty, but that applies only if you have all services done in time.
