I probably fall more into the "weirdo" camp, although whether or not it's interesting is up for debate. I have never been happy with the Intel Management Engine running closed source code so since the early 2010s or so I've either had x86 machines that ran libreboot or had the IME disabled. I have an ARM laptop now that works pretty well. Closed x86 firmware is not going away so I'm more hoping it becomes easier to run open source firmware on ARM, and I have been hoping for a pro-consumer company like framework or system76 to pick that mantle up
