Of course - the $900 was in the original comment, I was answering to a child comment. $900 sounds more like a cost of contacting a Chinese factory and producing a small batch of your unique sunglasses based on 3d model you've sent to them:)

ok, so you buy those $50, $10, $5 ones, and the market will have to follow if there are no isiots paying more. It's not electronics or machinery, it's a piece of forged or extruded materials, and a couple of pieces of plastic or glass, the cost is not high (in case of prescription glasses and special coatings the price will raise, but it will mostly be labour price, it's not something the manufacturer does
