Local models are right there, folks. They come bundled with Ollama or whatever. If the bubble popped to-day, there's still sites hosting the big-boy versions of open-weight models. Distilling those down to mere dozens of gigabytes is within reach for patient individuals - to say nothing of institutions with a couple thousand dollars in specialty hardware.

The silliest read on this unstable situation is any outcome where you figure it just ends.
