I think I've clicked that button once in maybe 15 years. IMO it's useless and I'm surprised it has taken them this long to do something about it. I wonder what the click stats for that one button are.

It's probably something to do with the user feeling like they have a choice or something, even if it's a meaningless choice.

Like when at work and you present a bad idea next to the idea you want people to pick so they feel included in the decision process.

This is a risky tactic, specially if the bad idea sounds compelling enough to dim-witted people

Yeah you've gotta be feeling lucky to use it.

I used to use it... I thought it would take you straight to the first result (but it's been a long time since I used it)... Now all the top results are hot garbage.

I went to Bing a while back.

It’s great.

I'm not a Bing fan either because it used to be regurgitated Google results. For now I'm just self-hosting an instance of SearXNG.

Copilot is pretty good for Azure stuff though, really I just like it because it always has links back to Microsoft's documentation (even though it's constantly changing).

I don't think I've ever used it. And I google a lot of "things."

[–] andallthat@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Especially right now, I'm feeling lots of things but "lucky" ain't one...

Having two buttons probably looks nicer so I guess it was decorative.
