Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Ubuntu (which is based on Debian) can be too slow to adopt newer software.
Arch on the other side is too quick.
Fedora is a good balance in-between.
Nearly all other distros are derived from these 3 families.
That and Ubuntu's obsession with Snaps is unhealthy. So many people recommend Debian or Mint over Ubuntu, if you want something very stable.
Interesting I would have assumed it was slower than Ubuntu in comparison given it's association with RHEL but looking it up it's sort of their "tip of the spear" when it comes to release testing. TIL
I was going to say, Fedora is not trying to push a bunch of snap apps up the users ass.
