Personal question: is the combat any better than Odyssey? I have not played many AC maybe because the combat felt boring and filled with animations that stop the action and take away control from the player. I would love a sandbox to fight without purpose, so long as the combos are fun to master. Odyssey came close but not close enough to actual melee combat games like Nioh DSouls, DmC, etc.
Not expecting as deep, but deeper.
I haven't played Odyssey but I don't know why it would be any different to the combat style of the other five or so I've played, which has always been the same.
The next AC, I'm sure, will continue to just be a reskin of the combat of the first. It's always the same mechanics, buttons, and even animations despite all these years and titles now..
But, put it out there, you might enjoy the Kingdom Come Deliverence games if you want satisfying combos and combat mastery in a sandbox adventure game.
