As part of the devs farewell message on their site, they have included malicious code to make each visitor sends 2,000 requests to the dbzer0 servers in an attempt to DDOS and take the instance offline.

Nothing wrong with empathizing with awful people. Still, having empathy for someone doesn't mean you have to excuse or tolerate their behavior.

IDK. I can think of plenty of cases where empathizing with someone makes you an enabler at the very least.
