Links for what info? Do you need a source for the fact that there was decades-long occupation of Afghanistan? Have you been living under a rock?

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world -5 points 7 hours ago (3 children)

I'd you're not going to link any info at all, why do you keep replying? I'm literally asking and everyone just downvotes me like I kicked their dog rather than proving any source.

Are you an idiot?

[–] Simon_Shitewood@lemmy.ml 6 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Here I guess then: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in_Afghanistan_(2001%E2%80%932021)

Real weird for you to not know about the whole Iraq/Afghanistan debacle, that's like not knowing about Vietnam.

Pretend I don't, and explain it like I'm five

[–] Simon_Shitewood@lemmy.ml 5 points 5 hours ago

No, you asked for a source, read it.

[–] Objection@lemmy.ml 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

If you want me to link you a source on a claim, tell me what specific claim. Otherwise I have no idea what information you're looking for.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world -5 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Your claim maybe? Explain why and where you got this information. If it's your opinion, that's fine. I'm trying to learn here and everyone's pulling trumper cards with "do your own research" bullshit.

Put up or shut up.

You don't understand how sources work. Let me break this down for you.

That troops are imperialist killers-for-hire is my conclusion drawn from historical facts. Those historical facts include that they went abroad to occupy a country for decades in a war of aggression that killed hundreds of thousands of people.

If you're disputing those facts, tell me what you're disputing and I will happily supply a source for it. If you agree with those facts, then no source is needed. If you agree with those facts but still disagree with my conclusions, then you must disagree with my logic and reasoning, which doesn't need a source.

If you don't understand my reasoning, then I'm happy to explain it, but I think it's pretty straightforward. They are hired to invade countries and kill people, so they are killers-for-hire.

If you understand my reasoning but still disagree with my conclusion, then you can challenge some specific part of said reasoning.

That is how reasoning and debate works. You don't just point wildly at whatever someone says and demand a source. If you're asking for a source, it means that you disagree or are uncertain about some specific fact underlying the chain of reasoning that leads to a conclusion.
