The core of the story has to be technology focused.

If article mentions "AI" in a sentence and then talks about business economics that doesn't make it tech news.
Gaming is too many layers removed from technology. There are many dedicated communities that are a better fit for it.
Transporation is too many layers removed from technology. EVs while use many cool technologies have many dedicated communities that are a better fit for it.
Entertainment is too many layers removed from technology. While sometimes it can fit here, business or cultural aspects of it are a better fit for dedicated communities.
Cybersecurity. While it heavily focuses on technology, most of the time it's too technical for most people who are not already invested in it. Should be posted in a dedicated communities unless it has broader connection to other tech areas.

Post guidelines

Title format

Post title should mirror the news source title. If you don't like the title of article, look for an alternative source instead of editorializing it.

URL format

Post URL should be the original link to the article (even if paywalled) and archived copies left in the body. It allows avoiding duplicate posts when cross-posting.

[Opinion] prefix

Opinion (op-ed) articles must use [Opinion] prefix before the title. Opinion articles refer to articles that their publisher doesn't explictly endorse.

Country prefix

Country prefix can be added to the title with a separator (|, :, etc.) if the news is from a local publisher who doesn't clearly mention the country.

5. Ad hominem attacks

Any kind of personal attacks are expressly forbidden. If you can't argue your position without attacking a person's character, you already lost the argument.

6. Off-topic tangents

Stay on topic. Keep it relevant.

7. Instance rules may apply

If something is not covered by community rules, but are against lemmy.zip instance rules, they will be enforced.

But no need to view the 4 vids. Just wanna share my opinion.

I've liked @dave2d, @gsmarenaofficial and @themrmobile for so long sans 🤔 re the conflicts of interest from early access and affiliate links. Peter opened my 👀. I 🤔 a review shouldn't have early access from the firm, affiliate links and promo codes. Links and promo codes for items unrelated to the reviewed item are OK. The Youtuber shouldn't get free accessories to or peripherals for the judged item. The native or integrated ad should be unrelated to the judged item. A very high bar, maybe. But we can't read the Youtuber's 🧠. We don't know if he's honest and not softening the item's cons. We need the review to stress the pros and the cons. Not inflating the pros; not deflating the cons. So he needs to have near 0 conflict of interest. 0 is impossible. Example, more Pixel 📱 sales mean richer Alphabet. The Youtubers are on Youtube – under Alphabet.

I must stress that a lying Youtuber with near 0 conflict of interest is possible. We need honest and independent reviewers.

Per Peter (in his 2nd vid), he was OK with an ad of a seemingly 👎 item if the ad was unrelated to the judged item. No. A reviewer should tout 👍 items and services that he himself tried or uses. A sign of high integrity.

Peter disliked ads re online betting. Yes! It has ruined so many lives.

I 🤔 the top reason Peter cited @mkbhd was views.

Yeah replacing words with emojis is not it. I don't wanna have to try to decode what you're trying to say. Use your words.

Emojis are fine when sparingly used to add flair to what you're saying, not to just replace entire words.
