A place to discuss privacy and freedom in the digital world.
Privacy has become a very important issue in modern society, with companies and governments constantly abusing their power, more and more people are waking up to the importance of digital privacy.
In this community everyone is welcome to post links and discuss topics related to privacy.
Some Rules
- Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
- Don't promote proprietary software
- Try to keep things on topic
- If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
- Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience
- Be nice :)

Have you ever tried to make a google account? If they somehow let you create one, they ban you from your own account within some months/years.
This is definitely not a solution. You need something that won't lock you out from your school/work at the whim of some broken automated false-positive from an evil company with no way to contact support
Do not speak of the old magics to me...
I have five Gmail accounts. Youngest is 5 years old. Oldest is around 20. Even have the apparently desirable firstname.lastname address for myself. So I'm not familiar with the current hoops to jump through, admittedly.
That said none have been banned, so while I recognize the risk, I don't agree with that inevitability, especially if you aren't making heavy use of it.
Any email service that is not self hosted has the same risk, and self hosting isn't generally in reach for people due to all the unwritten "trust rules" the major providers have quietly implemented.
That's because they are all linked to your identity
Which is harmful to you because they're selling all this information about you. And you shouldn't recommend that others do the same. We should help people, not suggest things harmful to people.
There exists many other email providers that do not sell your data (most in GDPR countries), and they won't delete your account if you manage to register it anonymously
