There was an ad about stopping a bill that would allow people to repair their own car, and this was the exact reason the manufacturers gave for why its a bad idea to let independent people or shops from being able to work on the car.
Literally the exact same scenario.
Worth noting that if anyone thought the LG TV privacy issues where bad wait until you hear how bad cars are. Especially teslsa. Telsla employees are allowed to snoop on all your recordings, and on video openly joke about it as if its a normal okay thing for a thing to do.
