I am sorry but the US was not exactly against the Nazis. They appointed a bunch of Nazi war criminals in positions in NATO.

One evil empire had only one aim, to destroy the Soviets and communism.
The other one beat them and their scummy collaborators at great cost and saved Europe, except for the part the opportunistic US vultures snatched for themselves.
