They were ready to sell it to him right before though. I think the gun cult is nuts and this is a nice way to show it.
You can give a man a fully automatic assault rifle, but only if he screams and fucks with it at home. If the guy feels unsafe to have someone just scream with it, he shouldn't be selling it to anyone ffs.
Fully automatic? Yeah good luck finding one.
They are hard to come by and expensive, but here is a perfectly legal mac 10, full auto, with suppressor, sold for $11,000

Yeah I know. They have to be made pre-1986 and they're insanely expensive. Finding a fully automatic AR is basically impossible though. Unlike other guns like the MAC-10 which were sold on the civilian market as fully automatics before the ban, AR-15s were never sold to the civilian market in select-fire configuration. All civilian market AR-15s were semi-automatic only and by the time the patent expired on it, there were very few other companies making any AR-platform rifles before the ban in 1986, and those that did (like Bushmaster) only made semi-automatic.
There are some very rare pre-1986 M-16 rifles that made their way down to the open market, but you're looking at $40,000 up to $70,000 for them. There were all of 6 M-16s available on gunsinternational, and the cheapest one was a pre-ban lower receiver and buttstock for $38,000. The cheapest full rifle was $43,000.
Sigh.
You could say the same about hammers in a hardware store. If someone yells 'I'm gonna throw this hammer at your fucking head!' and cocks their arm back, then they're being a huge idiot that endangers those around them and they deserve to get kicked out of the store. It doesn't mean that the hardware store is full of hammer nuts that are ready to sell hammers to maniacs.
You're expected to treat tools and others with respect when you're in public, especially if you're in someone else's space (like a store). If you don't, then there are consequences.
Even if some people treat it as a toy, a gun is still first and foremost a tool for killing. You cannot compare it to a hammer.
A teen holding a hammer and screaming "get on the ground" would not get the same reaction out of me as a gun would.
Imagine if this guy was letting you hold a grenade and that's how sane people view this kind of window shopping.
