I just downloaded and started DC Task Force, a free fan game like those old 2D beat-em-ups, last night. It's pretty cool how there's almost an entire open DC universe to explore and fight in, with actually a ton of characters to collect and play as, and a lot of cool detail throughout.

ZVitor, the guy who made DC Task Force has also made a bunch of other free fan games like Marvel Infinity War (basically DCTF but Marvel), and remakes of old arcade classics like Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage and X-Men Arcade.
