Such a weird world, where "posted before AI could do that" is like the only way to verify something now.
Like low-background steel.
Hopefully there's a post-AI period where we can say "I don't know if we can trust that, it dates to the AI years"

I too checked the comments because I thought it had to be genAI.
I don't even know what is real anymore.
I remember visiting WTC around early 2010s and they had gimmicks like this lining the sidewalks. Guys speaking half english about 9/11 ashtrays, dog food bowls, lighters, memorial cigars, party beads.
The fucked up part were the tourists lining up to buy that shit.
I'm on the fence about people buying things like this, because there are things far worse than their sense of humour.
American apologia is really fucking strong and I don't care much for the ongoing grieving period of the 2001 WTC attacks. Hell, 20 years ago the repeated vigils for '9/11' started to become a dark joke.
Reason 1: Bad shit happens frequently, and often far worse than that.
Reason 2: The US Government creates terrorists and enemies by bombing the fuck out of other countries, and this particular group is one example. The US gov and military is well known globally as tyrannical, violent and unreasonable. Which leads to
Reason 3: The US Government is responsible for terrorising and murdering millions of civilians across many countries. The death toll of 2,977 is dwarfed by any number of atrocities committed by the US government, not including the war immediately instigated in which they murdered around 200,000 civilians.
Another note is that Al Qaeda were one of the only organisations to successfully retaliate against America. And when they did, they chose vital infrastructure. Not civilian-specific locations. Not a single children's school. This makes Al Qaeda more civilised than any leader of northern America in the current century at least.
The sheer audacity and naïveté of anyone still crying about the dead while the rest of the world (including Americans) mourns millions of victims of the US leadership's evil acts irks me. So a few trinkets in poor taste are comparatively nothing.
